The best thing about Velvet Buzzsaw is Jake Gyllenhaal and you’re better off seeing him in Dan Gilroy’s better attempt, Nightcrawler. I don’t hate Velvet Buzzsaw, but I cannot think of one good reason to recommend it, largely due to its failed combination of genres. C+

Polar (2019): Netflix’s Latest Offering is All Show With No Depth
Polar is a superficial action flick with zany costumes, gratuitous sex, violence, and not much else to it. It is a whole lot of fun for people who enjoy movies with these and only these elements, but, for the rest of you who might want more cerebral fare, I would suggest you look elsewhere.
